Police continue to search a Richmond Hill home for child pornography and drugs after a man was arrested and charged with possession today.

York Region officers, including members of the Internet Child Exploitation unit and the Crimes Against Children unit, followed a tip they received yesterday which suggested the man had child pornography.

Eric Gantwerger, 26, is charged with possession of child pornography and a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

After police presented a search warrant at the man’s home, they seized six computer hard drives and dozens of DVD and CD-ROM discs. In addition to child pornography, they discovered bags of marijuana in various locations throughout the house.

Officers will conduct a forensic exam on all the computer equipment seized.

“It will take several weeks to go through all the data,” said Const. Christopher Price of the Internet Child Exploitation unit.

Price could not say how much marijuana was found, since officers have yet to weigh the bags, but they found several Ziploc bags the size of lunch bags.

Anyone with information can contact the Internet Child Exploitation unit at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7086 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
