Cyber Crime units within six months

Madurai, Feb 8: Cyber Crime (CC) units will be started in all commissionerates in Tamil Nadu in another six months, the Director General of Police, Rajendran said today.
He said more cyber crimes were being reported of late and that the CB-CID personnel of the Tamil Nadu police were well trained to deal with them. "In another 10 years, all district Police Offices would have CC wings," he said.
Attributing the increase in violent crimes including murders, to change in the level of intolerance, he stressed the need for counselling to prevent them.
The DGP, here to inaugurate the police guest house, the second in the state after chennai, built at a cost of Rs one Crore, said the mindset of people should change to prevent murders. "On our side, we are expediting investigations and ensuring that cases are detected and culprits arrested" He denied there was LTTE infiltration in the state and maintained that the law and order situation was under control.
The DGP also refused to comment on the case of alleged rape and murder of a nurse in the house of a close associate of senior DMK leader M K Azhagiri and said the CB-CID was investigating it.
