A former math teacher at Lee County High School was released on $15,000 bond Wednesday pending a trial on federal charges of distributing child pornography on the Internet.

Michael OKeefe, 37, who also taught at Darton College, was accused by a federal grand jury of producing child porn and putting it on Web sites. He resigned from teaching after the indictment last summer.

OKeefes lawyer, Pete Donaldson, said he was innocent.

There are some bad things on his computer, but they are not things that he put there, Donaldson said. I think we will be able to establish that we have a hacker problem here.

The trial is expected to be held in two to four months.
