Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day announced $100,000 in federal funding on Saturday to support a $3-million study of cybercrime in Canada, with Calgary the possible location for a cybercrime-fighting headquarters.
"Cyberspace is an area that is actively alive and well with criminal intent and criminal activity,"Day said in Calgary during the Canadian Association of Police Boards (CAPB) conference.
"We want to be able to look at how we can most efficiently zero in on the areas where properly preventative action can be taken in cyberspace to deal with criminal terrorist activity that goes on."
