Cyber Crime A Greensburg man faces criminal charges for persuading a Latrobe teenager he met on the Internet to accompany him to a county park for a sexual encounter.

Thomas M. Martin Jr., 22, of 538 Waterbury Drive, is charged with indecent assault, corruption of minors and simple assault.

Westmoreland County detectives said Martin met the girl in a chat room on the Internet. He allegedly engaged the girl in conversation of a sexual nature after the girl identified herself as a 16-year-old from Pennsylvania.

The girl provided Martin with her phone number and arranged to meet him Sept. 13 at a convenience store in Latrobe. They drove to a parking lot at Twin Lakes Park, which was closed for the day, and Martin allegedly groped the teen.

A county park police officer discovered the two and called detectives when Martin punched the girl. Martin allegedly hit the girl as the park officer went back to his patrol vehicle to retrieve a note pad.

Martin faces a preliminary hearing before District Justice James Falcon, of Hempfield Township. He is free on bond.
