PORTLAND -- An Oregon probation officer is accused of sexual abuse and sodomy against a teenage boy under his supervision.
two-year investigation led to the arrest of 48-year-old Michael Lee Boyles.
According to court papers, Boyles abused the victim over four years and offered him $1,500 to lie to police. But the teen refused, saying the abuse by a man that he once trusted had to stop.
"He basically used his job to manipulate people," said the victim, who is now 20 years old.
"It makes you hurt, I guess," Lt. Dale Rutledge of the Oregon State Police said.
"You don't like someone within your ranks, part of the criminal justice system, to be involved in those things."
Boyles could also face child pornography charges because police allegedly found hundreds of images at his southeast Portland home.
OSP detectives believe that there may be more victims.
"He just never needs to work around children again. That's my job -- I'm just trying to make sure children out there stay safe," the victim told KOIN 6 News.
