WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) Sen. Joseph Biden is calling for full funding of a law enforcement tool that enhances the ability of local, state, and federal agencies to work together in fighting crimes.
Biden is supporting nearly $53 million in the next budget for the Regional Information Sharing System, also known as RISS. Biden says despite cuts to other law enforcement programs, full funding for RISS should continue.
Supporters say the system is a leading intelligence sharing networks. Seaford Police Chief Gary Morris says it provides training, equipment and communication that would not otherwise be available.
RISS has been in operation for about 25 years and targets mainly terrorism, drug trafficking, cybercrime, gang activity, and organized crime.
