Silicon Valley hacker sentenced

A former technology manager was sentenced this week to a year in prison and six months of home confinement for placing a so-called "time bomb" on his employer's computer.
William Shea was sentenced Thursday for his geeky handiwork that corrupted more than 57-thousand company records at the Silicon Valley-based debt collection company, Bay Area Credit Services.
When Shea didn't show up for work without prior notice on January 17th, 2003, he was fired.
But company officials did not know that he had placed malicious code on the computer network that was set to delete and modify data at the end of the month.
